If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. That is what my favorite internet stranger, Gabrielle Union, often says.
I have learned to speak up.I mean,it can be uncomfortable but i do it now without fear.I stand up for something.I speak up not only for myself but for others as well.I am proud of myself.
Those who know me call me Esther, electrically charged and defined to stand up to what would otherwise take my freedom as little as coughing. The courage to stand up and standout .I call it Esther-shelling. This has been a journey. A journey that I wanna mark on this year's International Women's Day.
Every year on the 8th of March, the world over celebrates International Women's Day (IWD).The day is set to celebrate the beauty, diversity and achievements of women. This year, i mark the day by celebrating the women in my life.
In Kenya,IWD Theme 2023 was , DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.
I am privileged to be around women who in their own right are amazing and incredible in all ways. The women in my family, friendship groups and even my lectureres at the university have been instrumental in my glowing and growing journey.
I have found and cultivated a sisterhood and camaraderie with these women who continue to inspire and motivate me in different ways.
On this post,i recognize all the women that i am blessed to have in my life.I am not able to mention each and everyone of you but i hope that through this, you will feel my love.
Dear Girlfriend,
Thank you for lending an ear to listen to my never ending stories and rants.Thank you for allowing me to borrow your books.Thank you for the encouragement you offer when i run to you.
Girl, the laughter and banter we always share makes my days.I love that I laugh out so loud and carefree because you not only laugh with me but you are the source of my laughter.Thank you for the shoulder to lean on and always keeping that line open for me to call any time.Thank you for the memes. They have generated and lead to indepth conversations about who we are.
In my world, you are a boss babe.
I pray that your power and influence helps the world to feel more equitable with ability to embrace diversity. You're an amazing drop-dead gorgeous, a rare gem type of gem.
Get back up.Go get it.Keep Winning.
You can be who you want to be so go forth and be HER.
I LOVE YOU.
With Love,
Esther Mwelu.
